Arthur Longbottom (footballer) obituary and net worth at death – Arthur Langley, born Arthur Longbottom on January 30, 1933, was an English footballer who played primarily as an inside-forward. He scored 118 goals in 360 league and cup appearances during his 11-year career in the bottom two divisions of the Football League.
Longbottom began his professional career at Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in 1954 and played for the club until 1961. He then joined Port Vale in May 1961 for a £2,000 fee.
After a brief spell at Millwall, he moved to Oxford United in the summer of 1963. In October 1964, he transferred to Colchester United before ending his career in non-League football with Scarborough in May 1965.
Although Longbottom never won any honors or achieved promotion, he finished as the top-scorer in seasons at QPR, Port Vale, and Oxford United. His contributions to the clubs were significant, and he is remembered as a respected figure in English football.
Following the end of his football career, he changed his surname by deed poll to Langley.
Arthur Longbottom passed away on September 17, 2023, at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife Jean and three children.
