Hadi Matar Pleads Not Guilty For Attempt To Murder
In a New York court, Hadi Matar, the man accused of attacking and attempting to kill Salman Rushdie at a gathering, filed a not-guilty plea.
Hadi, 24, was charged with a “preplanned” offense during his hearing; therefore, the prosecution submitted a not-guilty plea on his behalf.
He appeared in court on Saturday wearing a white face mask and black and white jumpsuit. His hands were restrained in front of him.
He allegedly attacked the author while Salman Rushdie was introduced during a Friday speech at the Chautauqua Institute in New York.
The judge decided to imprison Hadi Matar without bail after learning from the district attorney that he had taken steps to put himself in a position to harm Salman Rushdie.
