Stephen Tompkinson, who plays the role of Warnock in the series, is popularly known as Father Peter Clifford in Chancer (1990), Drop the Dead Donkey (1990–1998), and Ballykissangel.
In 2006, he made his directorial debut in the Midlands with The Lightning Kid, a BBC1 lunchtime drama. He attended Central School of Speech and Drama in London with James Nesbitt and Rufus Sewell and graduated in 1988. After graduating from theatre school, Tompkinson began his journey of acting.
He received the Carleton Hobbs Bursary during his last year at the London School of Speech and Drama. It opened a door of opportunities, offering him a contract with the BBC’s Radio Drama Company and parts in radio dramas.

He had posted a video of himself talking about his father, who had suffered Alzheimer’s for seven years and eventually passed away in 2015. In 2021, he delivered a petition signed by 51,800 people, requesting the government keep its promise of doubling the funds for dementia research.
Stephen has discussed the details of his campaign in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Research UK on Sky News. On his social media, he appears to strongly support the community suffering from Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory-related illnesses.
